I spent 8 hours in the hospital on Friday. It took four tries to get the IV in but eventually we got it!
Four units of plasma later my pee was back to yellow!
We are still not sure what was wrong with me, blood tests, urinalysis and a CT scan revealed that everything was normal.
So I am home now safe and sound resting up.
It was my Dads turn to spend the day with me this time and it was nice because we got to spend some quality time together. Eight hours of quality time.
While at the hospital I also got to meet another hemophiliac. A factor one hemophiliac in fact, which is very rare!
It was interesting to meet with him and find out what his challenges are.
I also encouraged him to get involved with the Canadian Hemophilia Society which I think is a great idea for anyone. It helps you to realize that you are not alone and that there are people just like you struggling with the same things.

Not a fun way to spend a Friday. Even if it was with your dad.
ReplyDeleteI started having spontaneous hemorrhages in and around the kidneys when I was 13. The last one was just a few years ago when I was still working. (I was 60.) Never got a definitive answer about the cause, but the best educated guess was that the physical stress of growing, and/or the emotional stress of school or work was probably major contributors.
The first time I peed blood at school it scared the heck out of the kid at the urinal next to me. Never did figure out why he was looking. Decided it was best not to know.
Thank you so much for your comment!
ReplyDeleteIt seems like as soon as I get stressed out in anyway, some sort of bleed comes up!
I spoke with other hemophiliacs and they also mentioned having blood in their urine from time to time with no apparent cause.
What factor are you? How did you find working full time? I haven't been able to find a full time job yet that works with my Hemophilia!
